A Stunning Apartment In Paris With Views To The Eiffel Tower
W hen this project hit my inbox I couldn’t contend my excitement! Located in the second floor of a classic Parisian building in the popular area of Trocadero, and with breathtaking views to the Eiffel Towel, this 350 square meters apartment blends heritage and character with contemporary high-end finishes.
Designed by French interior designer Rodolphe Rarente, the apartment features stunning decorative elements from the 18th century, such as decorative moldings, coffered ceilings, Chinese-influenced pediments and marble fireplaces.
The owners of this apartment, a couple in their thirties with three children, are passionate collectors of art and contemporary furniture and wanted to create an open-living space to display their collections. To achieve this contemporary feel the dining room was opened to the kitchen, and decorated with costume-made furniture and modern art.
The project involved refurbishment of the entire apartment – from partitions and walls, to ceilings, mouldings, trimmings, custom joinery and furniture and lighting selections. The use of two main materials, brass and Calacatta Caldia marble, gives continuity and consistency to the space.
The choice of fabrics and carpets is also the result of a continuous search for quality and comfort. The walls and ceilings are painted in a colour reminiscent of raw porcelain. This delicacy is reinforced by the choice of a very light timber floor made of oak.
The approach of this project was to respect the existing architecture while emphasizing the vast volumes. In spite of its high-end finishes, the apartment is not a contemplative space, it’s been carefully thought and designed for a family of five, beautiful but functional, decorative but liveable.
The main bedroom hides an invisible dressing room, made of beveled mirrors, that connects master bedroom and bathroom.

Un sensacional hogar en el corazón de París con vistas a la Torre Eiffel
Cuando este proyecto llego a mi correo, no pude contener la emoción… Situado en el segundo piso de un edificio clásico en el popular barrio parisino del Trocadero, y con impresionantes vistas a la torre Eiffel, este piso de 350 metros cuadrados fusiona en su interior una arquitectura clásica con bellos acabados contemporáneos.
Diseñado por el interiorista francés Rodolphe Rarente, su interior está repleto de bellísimos elementos arquitectónicos del siglo XVIII, como son las amplias molduras, los techos encofrados, frontones de estilo oriental y chimeneas de mármol.
Sus propietarios, una joven pareja con tres niños, son grandes apasionados y coleccionistas de arte contemporáneo y deseaban crear un espacio en el que poder mostrar su colección. Por ello, se eliminaron tabiques entre la cocina, el salón y el comedor, creando un amplio espacio diáfano, desde él que pudiesen verse las obras de arte sin trabas visuales.
El proyecto conllevó también la restauración de sus elementos arquitectónicos originales, incluyendo paredes, techos, molduras, etc, así como la selección de mobiliario e iluminación. La utilización de dos materiales nobles, el latón dorado y el mármol de Calacatta, da continuidad y consistencia al espacio interior.
La selección de cortinaje y alfombras es también un reflejo de la búsqueda del equilibro entre calidad y confort. Las paredes se pintaron en un color que imita el aspecto de la porcelana y se combinaron con un bello suelo de madera natural.
En la ejecución de este proyecto se respectaron al máximo los elementos arquitectónicos originales y se enfatizaron volúmenes jugando con la escala y las proporciones. A pesar de sus lujosos acabados, este no es un hogar contemplativo, sino cuidadosamente pensado para una familia de cinco miembros, combinado belleza estética con funcionalidad y confort.
